Losing weight is all in your head. Seriously. It is not about the body. A weight battle always starts and ends in the mind.
It is all about the motivation. Once you get your motivation in gear then the actual losing weight is not too difficult.
It is easy to become complacent and allow the pounds to gradually creep up when you are not looking. Because of my work, I spend way too many hours per week sitting in front of my computer. If I fail to go to the gym or for my walks in the park then I might as well just smear that peanut butter and jelly sandwich right onto my hips because that is where it is going to stay.
Once I have gained weight, I usually lack the motivation to lose it until something comes along and gives me the jolt I need to get back into shape. I am never able to get motivation from someone else. It always has to come from inside myself. Challenges do not work for me.
A month ago, I saw my ex-husband at my daughter’s birthday dinner. As we finished eating dinner and were just about to have brownies and ice cream, he looked directly at me and told me in a round-about way that I was fat. I asked him, “Did you just call me fat?” He smiled and nodded that indeed he had just called me fat. That really made me angry.
For the next two weeks, I was angry. I went to the gym a couple of times a week and went for walks. During that time, the motivation started building in my brain, but it still needed a bit more of a catalyst. Then, a nice man started giving me some attention, and I was off and running. That was exactly what I needed. Now, my motivation is through the roof.
I am losing the weight for myself, not for someone else, but sometimes it is just hard to get that push to get going. Once it is there, then losing weight is not so difficult. Diets work. They all do. It doesn’t really matter which one you pick. Losing weight is all about burning more calories than you eat. Just eat less calories and move more. That’s all there is to it.
I chose Weight Loss Miss because it is a healthy plan, and the support and motivation you get from the meetings is great.
